Three Catalan restaurants – El Celler de Can Roca (2), in Girona, Disfrutar (18) and Tickets (32), in Barcelona – and four Basque restaurants – Mugaritz (9), in Errentería; Asador Extebarri (10), in Atxondo; Arzak (31), in San Sebastián, and Azurmendi (43) in Larrabetzu – appear in the ranking of the best restaurants in the world of the prestigious list “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” of this year 2018.
The ranking of the best restaurants in the world is headed by the Osteria Francescana in Modena (Italy), and the second place is occupied by El Celler de Can Roca, the gerundense restaurant of the brothers Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca.
The creativity of the prestigious chef Andoni Luis Aduriz has placed Mugaritz in the ninth position of the list, only one above the Asador Extebarri restaurant by Víctor Arguinzoniz, located in the valley of Atxondo.
The 18th place is occupied by the restaurant Disfrutar in Barcelona by Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch after years of intense work at elBulli, where they met and trained professionally.
