The total expenditure of foreign tourists who visited Catalonia during January 2018 was €912 million, which represents an increase of 11.1% over the same month of 2017.
Thus state the recently published data by the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (Idescat).
In January 2017, foreign visitors spent a total of €820 million in Catalonia, which has increased by 92 million this year.
By countries, the visitors who spent more money in Catalonia last January were those from the United States, with a total of 105 million, 31.7% more than in January of last year. France ranked second in spending with €88 million, practically the same as last year.
Something that also improved in January was the average daily expenditure per foreign visitor, which increased to €176, representing an increase of 7.5%.
