The total number of passengers transported by Spanish airports during the year 2018 was 263.7 million, 5.8% more than in 2017, according to the provisional accumulated data published by Aena.
The airport with more passengers was, once again, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, which moved a total of 57.89 million passengers. This figure represents an increase of 8.4% with respect to the data of the previous year.
Barcelona-El Prat airport ranked second place with 50.17 million passengers, 6.1% more than in 2017. The third Spanish airport by number of passengers transported during 2018 was Palma de Mallorca airport, which grew by 4% and carried 29.08 million passengers.
The top ten places in the ranking are completed by the airports of Málaga-Costa del Sol (19.02 million), Alicante-Elche (13.98 million), Gran Canaria (13.57 million), Tenerife-Sur (11.04) million), Ibiza (8.1 million), Valencia (7.76 million) and Lanzarote (7.32 million).
Of the top 20 of the ranking, those that grew the most with respect to the previous year were the airports of Sevilla (11th in the ranking with an increase of 24.9%), Tenerife-Norte (16.7%) and Valencia (15.2%). %).
On the other hand, three airports in the top 20 suffered a drop in the number of passengers carried: Tenerife-Sur (-1.8%), Lanzarote (-0.8%) and Asturias (-0.5%).
